K9 Rescue Knitting Club

During 2010, the K9knitters team will be supporting three dog rescue charities.  You can choose which of these charities that your donation will go to when you buy from the K9knitters range.  Simply make your cheque payable to the one you want to support (or, if you’re paying via paypal, let me know which of the three you want to support and I’ll make out a cheque on your behalf).

Tailends.   This is a wonderful charity that supports terminally ill or elderly dogs.  Their dogs come from situations of abuse or neglect and are unlikely to be re-homed in the normal way.  They go to live with George and Angela at their home in Devon where they are provided with immediate veterinary treatment, warmth, comfort, loving care, appropriate walks and good quality food.  Sometimes the Tailends team are able to successfully treat illnesses and considerably extend the life of the dog.  In every case, they are receive the best veterinary attention in their final days and are comfortable and loved - possibly for the first and only time in their miserable lives.  You can read more about Tailends on their website here.

The Little Dog Rescue.  The Little Dog rescue (as the name suggests!) are dedicated to rescuing and rehoming small dog breeds.  They are a relatively new rescue organisation, but are already making a great difference.   They are a nationwide organisation and work with a network of volunteers who foster unwanted diddy dogs until they can be found their forever home.  You can read more about The Little Dog Rescue on their website here.

Dogs Trust.  We support Dogs Trust every year, as they do such a great job with raising awareness of dog welfare across the UK.  Our ‘adopted’ centre is Sadberge near Darlington, where our K9knitters volunteers often run a stall at their fundraising events through the year.  Any donations to Dogs Trust can be made under Gift Aid if you’re a UK taxpayer.  Read more about Dogs Trust on their website here.

In previous years, the K9knitters team have supported four charities through donation of funds.  Dogs Trust, Many Tears in Wales, The Oldies Club, Greyhound Gap and Ashbourne Animal Welfare in Derbyshire.  But we’ve also supported dozens of dog rescue organisations through donations of coats for their residents.  If any rescue organisations would like a donation of coats to help keep their residents warm, please contact us on this page here.
