About Us
Last updated: 17th January 2010The K9 Rescue Knitting club was formed in early 2006, when Jill and the ladies of the Ellis Garden Community Centre in Middlesbrough decided to start knitting a few dog coats to raise funds for a local dog rescue centre.
From these small beginnings, we now have a network of knitters around the country who heard about the work of the k9knitterati and also wanted to help. They all give their time and creativity for free for the benefit of rescue dogs. You can find out about who they are here.
100% of the proceeds from the sale of k9knitters dog coats are donated to dog rescue organisations. During 2006 over £2000 was raised for the Dogs Trust centre in Sadberge, Middlesbrough and Many Tears Rescue based in South Wales. In 2007 we raised £3,765 for Dogs Trust Sadberge and The Oldies Club. During 2008 we raised a whopping £5091 for Dogs Trust and Ashbourne Animal Welfare. In 2009, we raised just £4045 for Dogs Trust (again), Tailends and Greyhound Gap. In 2010, we are supporting Dogs Trust and Tailends (again), and The Little Dog Rescue.
We decided to set up this web site as a ‘shop window’ for the dog coats we have for sale, and also to ask for donations of supplies. Huge thanks are due to Andrew for hosting the website and acting as a 24 x 7 technical hotline!!!
